LACY LANE

Mountain Contemporary - Pole Creek - Tabernash, Colorado

This 4,100 sf. mountain modern house is built on a 2 acre site on the north side of the Pole Creek Golf

Course, outside of Tabernash. The site looks south to the Continental Divide, the Ski Area and Byer’s

Peak. The site is south sloping, so the house was arranged in a linear east west orientation to capture all

of the spectacular views from every room on both levels, as well as to capture the south sun. The site

was uphill from the road, so the driveway winds its way to the uphill side of the residence and allows the

garage to be located on the main floor. The house was placed in the middle of the site to give it

maximum separation from the neighbors and the road.

On the main floor, the entry is on axis with the living area and the view to the Ski Area. The great room

also contains an open kitchen and dining area with large south facing windows. A pantry, laundry room

and mud area connect the great room to the garage. There is a large deck for grilling and eating located

off of the kitchen and the dining area, on the west side of the house. Also, on this level is located the

powder room, the master suite and a deck off the living room.

The owner’s wanted a mountain modern feel with some traditional elements mixed in. Stone floors,

exposed steel, an asymmetrical fireplace and traditional cabinetry and doors helped create the feeling

that the owner’s wanted. The staircase is modern and open with metal stair stringers, open wood stairs

and metal railings.

The lower level contains a family room, three bedroom suites for each grown daughter, a bunk room for

guests and a workout room. There is also an additional bathroom for the bunkroom and family room to

share. At this level is a patio containing a hot tub.

The exterior is wire brushed wood siding, stone and metal panels for minimal maintenance and a rustic

appearance. Exterior steel beams are sealed, but will rust over time to also give the mountain rustic

appearance the HOA guidelines call for. We worked very closely with the HOA to get to an exterior

aesthetic that everyone agreed on.
