EAGLE'S NEST

Mountain Traditional - Rendezvous - Fraser, Colorado

This 12,000 sf. house is located on a steep lot at the top of the Rendezvous development overlooking Winter Park, CO. The lot has a great southern exposure and uninterrupted views of the Continental Divide and the Winter Park Ski Area.

To build on this steep lot required several retaining walls on the downhill side of the house. The house bends several times to follow the natural contours of the site. It also helped to break down the scale of this large house.

The house has three levels with the top floor tucked into the roof to keep the house within the height limit. On the main level in the middle of the house is located a two story great room with a large wall of glass looking out to the spectacular view. A two story massive fireplace and timber trusses help to define this room. A covered deck with a fireplace backed up to the living room fireplace is placed to the side of the great room, so as not to block the view from the living room. One the other side of the living room is a one story dining area and large kitchen.

Located to the west of the great room is a garage with a back hall staircase and a laundry facility. Located to the east of the great room are the front staircase and a bridge that leads to the master suite, which is contained in a separate structure.

The lower level contains a spa room, a family/ entertainment room, a large bedroom suite and a workout room. There are several private patios with very nice landscaping located at this level. The upper level contains two guest bedroom suites, a large bunkroom, an office and a hallway reading area. The exterior materials are reclaimed wood siding, farmer’s stone and copper siding. The roof is a combination of copper standing seam roofing and asphalt shingles. All of the downspouts, chimney caps and flashing are copper for a quality appearance.
