GRAND COUNTY CABIN

Quintessential Cabin - Grand River Ranch - Kremmling, Colorado

The site for this cabin is northwest of Kremmling. The 30 acre property is east facing and has uninterrupted, distant views of the Continental Divide and Wolford Reservoir. The cabin is tucked into a pocket of the adjacent aspen forest with a meadow to the east. The client desired a small, simple weekend cabin with traditional forms.

The great room is vaulted with high windows to bring in light. In addition, on the main floor is a kitchen, entry, guest bedroom and bath and a gear room with a sliding barn door. A covered porch wraps the great room on the east and north sides. Upstairs there is a master suite tucked into the roof. There are dormer windows on the north and south sides for added light and ventilation. In the basement, there is another bedroom, bathroom, laundry room and storage for the client’s teepee and canoe.

All of the structural elements are exposed in the cabin and there is a wood burning stove in the great room. These elements help give this cabin a rustic Colorado feel, which is what the client desired.
